What is Quercetin
Quercetin is a flavanol (flavonoid polyphenol) found in fruits and vegetables.
What are the proposed benefits
Possessing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and mast cell stabilising properties, quercetin was able to inhibit the release of IL-6, TNF-α, tryptase and histamine (inflammatory mediators) in human mast cells. These cytokines are associated with the development of allergic 1 and non-allergic immune response.2
Preclinical evidence also suggests the ability to block the replication of rhinovirus, responsible for producing the common cold. 3
