While on set shooting our new Glow campaign, we caught up our Swisse Beauty Ambassador, Francesca Hung for a quick-fire Q&A session!
Tell us about your daily morning routine
First off, when I wake up, my priority is hydration! I start my day by having hot water with a slice of lemon or if I’m pressed for time, I’ll just have a glass of plain water. Next, I take my dog Hazel for a walk to get fresh air and make sure I get my dose of vitamin D (with SPF on of course!).
What about skincare?
For me, my skin health is the top priority in my daily routine. Our skin is the largest organ in the body, and I feel when I look after my skin health, I’m looking after my health overall at the same time. I alternate different products depending on my skin’s needs. I also find changing my products to suit the season such as a lighter moisturiser for summer can be beneficial for my skin.
Each day, I start with a gentle foaming cleanser and double cleanse. I find that this second cleanse helps me feel refreshed at the start of my day. I then go in with a serum, again this can vary between a hyaluronic acid serum or a vitamin B or C serum depending on what my skin needs. Moisturiser is next, which is usually lightweight and of course, I always finish with SPF daily, all year around!
What have you learned about your skin over the last few years?
As someone who has struggled with acne my entire life, I’ve learned that tackling breakouts takes an inside-outside approach. For me, skincare is no longer just about what goes on my skin. To achieve a true glow, I've started to focus on how I can help my skin from the inside too. Along with a consistent skincare routine, I try to ensure I’m eating a healthy, balanced diet and drinking enough water every day. We only have one skin, so it’s important to take the time to look after it.
Favourite skincare step and why?
The part I really enjoy is applying one of the last steps in my routine, moisturiser. While applying my moisturiser, I give myself a mini face massage which is especially relaxing at night-time after a long day on set. I spend so long in the bathroom before bed because I just love doing my skincare!
What do you think the biggest secret to glowing skin is?
I find if I stay on top of my health, it’ll show on the outside. From the start to the end of each day, I make sure I’m nourishing my body with healthy food. Breakfast is often a smoothie bowl in summer and overnight oats in winter!
When it comes to getting my nutrients during lunch and dinner, high protein and good fats are a must. My meals consist of anything from tuna salads with avocado to baked fish or chicken.
Aside from food, self-care is non-negotiable for me, regardless of my circumstances or location. Whether it's just attending a Pilates class, applying a face mask or journalling, little acts of self-care are indispensable for my wellbeing.
Outside of skincare products, what’s your favourite skin treat?
One of my favourite skin treats is my face roller that I keep in my freezer!
I often wake up a little puffy! So, I love to pull out my face roller, nice and cold from a night in the freezer… and use that to massage my face. It automatically de-puffs and really energises me for the day.
If you could only take one skincare item to a desert island, what would it be?
That’s such a hard one! I do make it a habit of keeping beauty supplements with me. I find they are incredibly convenient and compact, perfect for a desert island getaway!
