Self-care comes in many shapes and sizes, and it’s not always manicures, shamans and steam rooms. Self-care can encompass self-compassion, eating a nutritious meal and a simple at-home face mask. It’s time to light up the oil diffuser, pop on your favourite relax music playlist and get your self-care on.
Journaling
It’s the opportune time to start or continue a journaling practice. Journaling in the morning is a great way to relax your mind before you set up for the morning. Journaling doesn’t have to take long, mention crushes or follow any strict guidelines; you can write down a gratitude list, your to-do list, and anything in between.
Glow in the morning
Start the day fresh with a warm shower and good-quality face wash. Have a warm shower and wash your face. The Swisse Manuka Honey Daily Glow Foaming Cleanser, formulated with stabilised Vitamin C and papaya enzymes, is perfect for delivering moisture and radiance when you’re spending the day taking care of yourself.
Breakfast of champions
Nourish yourself and support your energy with a wholesome breakfast. Whether it’s a delicious berry smoothie, eggs on toast or warming porridge, make a meal that excites you enough to get you out of bed and ready for the day. We love oatmeal in the cold weather, but a mixed berry fruit smoothie works wonders if you must sip on the go.
Stretch your legs
While it’s easy to slip into a work routine and never leave your desk, create time in your schedule to do something for yourself. Plus, spending all day indoors can dehydrate your skin. A little walk around the block during your lunch break, a 10-minute guided meditation or an afternoon stretch gives you time to recalibrate and move. Keep the focus up with some relaxing background music for added ambience when you get back to work.
Make time for mindfulness
If your afternoon to-do list is overwhelming you, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Practising mindfulness throughout the day can reduce nervous tension and support your immune system.1
Wind down
My favourite way to wind down for the day is a nourishing dinner and a good read. Before I go to bed, I love popping on a face mask. My new go-to is the Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Clay Mask for drawing out impurities and toxins. Apply a face mask, put your legs up the wall and listen to a 10-minute guided meditation to wind down and reach your self-love quota for the day.
