Tell us about your morning routine? Do you have a favourite breakfast?

I've always been a bit of a morning person so I usually get up pretty early. I like getting my training done first thing because it sets me up for a positive and productive day. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. I usually alternate between eggs with avocado or home made muesli with natural yoghurt

How do you motivate yourself to get up for those dark winter morning training sessions?

If can be tough some days but I usually remind myself of the awesome feeling once it's done and I know myself well enough now to realize that not doing it will bother me for the rest of the day. In saying that I still have days where my motivation isn't peaking and I find it difficult, everyone does. That's where my friends and teammates become really important. If you organize to train with someone it can be the nudge in the right direction you need because they help keep you accountable.

What does a typical day of training involve?

When it comes to my training, every day is different. Mondays are usually upper body weights, Tuesdays I like to ride or swim and do a skills session. Wednesdays I focus on lower body weights and usually squeeze in a boxing session. Thursday is another ride or swim and skills session and Friday is back to upper body weights. Saturday is lower body weights again and thankfully Sunday is my rest day. But every day I do a good warm up and recovery and with a nutritious feed afterwards.

How to you like to recover after a tough training session?

Call me strange but I actually love ice baths! Lots of athletes use them for the recovery benefit but see them as a bit of a chore but I actually love the feeling and find them so important for my recovery. A protein rich meal is also vital and I spend most nights watching footy shows on my foam roller instead of sitting on the couch.

Most people hate burpees, is there any particular exercise you dread?

I have a love hate relationship with running. I am not a natural runner and no matter how fit I get I always feel like my technique is wrong and that it shouldn't be this hard. But I love battling through and getting it done anyway because the feeling of having survived a hard running session is so empowering.

Besides a clean diet and exercise, what’s the secret to your healthy glow?

I try not to take myself too seriously. I’m always working hard to achieve my goals but it’s important to remember to allow myself to be imperfect and make mistakes sometimes.

What advice would you give to young girls who dream of following in your footsteps?

I would encourage all aspiring athletes to use every training and game as an opportunity to improve or work on a new trick. There is no magic formula or quick fix to getting there, you just have to be passionate and prepared to work harder than most the people around you and make good life decisions that support your mission to get there rather than slowing it down!

Is there a particular sports person you admire most or who motivates you?

Mike Hussey was my favourite cricketer of all time and one of the athletes I most admired. I loved the way he brought such intensity to every ball he faced whether it be in practice or a World Cup. His mental ability to put himself under pressure as if every ball was an opportunity to win the match is the reason why he could perform like he did in tough conditions or high pressure situations.

What would we find if we took a look inside your training bag?

I never leave the house without a bottle of water, my foam roller, a probiotic, an amino acid, some magnesium and a stash of nuts and seeds to snack on.
