Born in Melbourne, 30-year-old Josh Kennedy has become one of the most prolific midfielders in the AFL. Son and grandson of former Hawthorn players, Kennedy kept the family tradition by starting his career at Hawthorn, then moved to the Sydney Swans in 2010. At the Swans, Kennedy flourished, winning the club’s best and fairest three times. He also made the All Australian team three times, and finished third in the 2014 and 2017 Brownlow medal – it seems three is his lucky number!

His career achievements can be somewhat attributed to his wonderful family support, particularly from his wife Ana and son Emilio born in 2015. Along with Kennedy’s family, his friends outside football are always there to keep him grounded, which has been an important factor throughout his career.

We sat down with the Sydney Swans captain to ask him 10 quick questions, to give us an insight into his family life and the best piece of advice he has ever received.

What is the first thing you do when you get home from a game?

The first thing I do when I get home from a game is open the pantry or fridge to see if there’s anything good to eat. After that I’ll jump in the pool (ice bath during winter) for some extra recovery.

Your little man Emilio is the spitting image of you…what do you like most about him?

What I love most about Emilio is his personality. He has such great energy and always makes both Ana and I laugh.
