HD cameras take no prisoners, something model Ash Hart knows about.
She’s lucky enough to live and work between the USA and Australia, in her role as Just Jeans and Swisse Wellness ambassador. For Hart, it means a lot of air travel, every six weeks to be exact. Which also means she’s got herself a finely tuned travel routine – and we got an inside look.
What's the first thing you do when you get off a plane?
“Ground!!! Either put my bare feet in sand or a fresh piece of earth or grass.”
What will we find you doing when you check in to a hotel?
“I love making wherever I am, feel like home. Even if I’m staying a night, I’ll unpack everything, hang my clothes, lay out my toiletries and always travel with a thin sarong/throw to put over the bed. It makes me feel comfortable, happy and have a sense of home wherever I am.”
What toiletries can’t you leave home without?
“I love doing a DIY hotel room facial, so I’ll pack the Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Facial Mask, Swisse Sweet Almond Cream Cleanser and the Swisse Hibiscus Anti-Aging Night Cream and Swisse Argan Anti-Aging Eye Cream. I love to finish with the Swisse Deep Sea Hydrating Mist Toner– it’s the best trick for beautiful bright, rejuvenated skin for work the next day.”
What do you eat when flying?
“I try to pack little healthy snacks like gluten-free little energy bars and unrefined, sugar free dark chocolate. I’ll also take lemons to add to hot water throughout the flight, which often helps me – as for some us – it can be hard for our bodies to digest on planes. I’m lucky enough to frequent Qantas business flights, to and from the US and Australia – I love the Neil Perry menu and always go for the salmon.”
What do you find helps with plane bloating?
“Moving throughout the flight. I travel with an acupressure mat that I walk on at-least every few hours, while consciously taking deep breaths to circulate my whole system. I drink lots of water and if there is the time and space, I’ll set up my plane blanket, while most are sleeping, find a quiet spot and have a full yoga session. I’ll also take my daily dose of Swisse Ultiboost High Strength Globe Artichoke to help assist healthy digestion.”
How do you like to pass the time in the air?
“Eating, sleeping, reading, watching movies, meditating! I never watch TV at home, so I actually love catching up on some movies. I love the fact that I have to turn off my phone, being completely unplugged from the world. I often find myself self-reflecting, flying somehow gives me this incredible perspective on my life. I often journal and have some amazing clarity and realisations come through. And, of course, I mediate throughout the flight, I find this is the helps keep my circadian rhythms on track with the time change.”
What yoga routine is best after a long-haul flight?
“Definitely a vigorous practice, to get the breath, body and blood moving, although this can feel like moving through honey after a long flight! I’ll often just do a few rounds of surya namaskara A and B, vinyasa style, then drop into a delicious restorative deep stretch. Hip openers feel heavenly after a long flight.”
