Wellness Hub November 2016 What your pee says about you Melissa Shedden November 23, 2016 Share If the eyes are the window to your soul, the toilet bowl is a window to your body. Learn what’s going on inside by examining what comes out. CLEAR You’re guzzling too much H2O. Unless you have kidney stones, lay off of the liquids or you might be losing salts with all that drinking. STRAW YELLOW You’re a hydration hero. Good on you – keep it up! DARK YELLOW You’re dry as a chip! Get a glass of water, stat. See you at the water cooler. NEON YELLOW A fluoro flow is probably linked to your vitamin habit, B and C vitamins mainly. Nothing to be alarmed by. ORANGE/BLUE/GREEN Colours of the rainbow are usually the result of medication or food dye or something more. Get it checked. PINK/RED/ TEA COLOURED If you haven’t been bee-lining the beetroots, please go see your GP and consult a urologist. The bottom line? Ask your doctor about it when it's not a big deal rather than when it is. “Healthy urine can range from clear to dark yellow, but if it's any other colour in the rainbow and hydration or a change in diet doesn't fix it, it's best to get it checked,” recommends Rao.
