What does being body beautiful mean to you?

Being happy and comfortable in yourself. If you aren’t happy with yourself it doesn’t matter what you look on the outside. So to me the secret to inner beauty is being kind and grateful because that shines all the way through to the outside. Outer beauty is how you feel. The secret is to be confident just the way you are.

How do you stay well during pregnancy?

I have definitely been more active this second pregnancy. One - because I have a three-year-old to keep up with, but also because the recovery from my first C-section was so long and hard that I didn’t want all my hard work to go out the window. I have been training with my personal trainer a few times a week to keep my muscle memory and help with my energy levels and fluid retention. I definitely have days where my body is just tired and I cannot be bothered. If I am absolutely exhausted, I skip the gym and take the time to just rest and let my body recover.

 

What’s your self-love advice to all first time mums when your body is changing?

The first pregnancy can be so exciting but at the same time really overwhelming. You lose all control over your body and I know personally, the second time around, I almost feel guilty for complaining about my bum being saggy and everything stretching and getting bigger.

I know other women as well like me who I have spoken to feel the same guilt because on one hand we are so lucky and grateful to be growing a miracle inside us, but at the same time, when you are used to looking a certain way, it can be upsetting that you have lost all control. As hard as it can be, I think it’s important to remind yourself that your body is going to be like this for a certain period of time and then eventually of course, with training, you can bounce back into shape. The pregnancy isn’t going to last forever, and neither is your beautiful bump, so just embrace it.

 

What beauty tip or advice changed your life?

That would probably be when I read that you could get your eyebrows feathered touch tattooed! I have had mine done for almost three years now and I love waking up each morning with my brows already done.

 

What’s your best beauty tip for pregnancy?

Look after yourself from within by drinking plenty of water and still eating healthy and taking all your right vitamins. If you feel good and healthy on the inside, it will definitely show and make pregnancy easier.

 

What is your healthy go-to meal during pregnancy?

When I am at home around lunchtime my favourite lunch meal is a quick salad. I usually make a big bowl of tuna, corn, avocado, tomato, lettuce and a bit of cheese. I keep the salt and dressing to a minimum, as I find I hold onto extra fluid if I have too much salt.

We like to Celebrate Life Every Day at Swisse, how did you celebrate finding out you were having a baby?

Both times I did the home pregnancy test, I wrapped them in a box as a present for my husband to be surprised by.

 

What is your happiest motherhood memory?

A couple of my happiest memories are of course when Willow was first born, but also when I watched her first ballet concert. It was only a few months ago, but to see my beautiful little girl up on stage doing a little dance and waving to me was unbelievable. It was such an amazing moment because it was so clear to me that she is her own little person now, not just a little baby who needs to be looked after. People who say to me that motherhood just keeps on getting better the older they get and it is so true! She is my little bestie now.

 

What’s your best health habit since being pregnant?

Ever since being pregnant, I have been drinking so much more water and I have noticed an improvement in my skin. I make sure I have at least three litres of water a day.
