CSIRO is Australia's national science agency with the core objective of making a positive impact on people's lives through science and research. As their website details, "everything we do is focused on creating measurable economic, environmental and social benefits that better our world and Australia's place in it."

"This is in line with our mission at Swisse of making millions of people around the globe healthier and happier," says Radek Sali, Swisse CEO. "We are dedicated to investing in education, innovation and science. Our partnership with CSIRO will provide a framework for translating research opportunities into commercial activities, investigating new opportunities and innovations right through the supply chain, by facilitating collaboration and undertaking projects of mutual interest," Sali explains.

CSIRO Director of Health and Biosecurity, Dr Rob Grenfell, echoes this sentiment. "Collaborating with industry to create value through innovative science is at the core of what CSIRO stands for, and aligns with what we're aiming to achieve through our partnership with Swisse. It is very positive to see a market leader like Swisse seeking the best science to substantiate health claims," says Grenfell.

Leading innovation in the complementary medicine industry

The partnership with CSIRO forms part of Swisse's long term Strategic Science Program for scientific validation and innovation, which also includes research projects with universities such as La Trobe and Swinburne in Melbourne, and other local and global institutes.

The strategic alliance allows the two organisations to collaborate on a number of translational research projects and to lead innovation in the complementary medicine industry, including research into novel ingredients and advanced manufacturing.
