Wellness Hub November 2016 Ash Hart’s wellness guide to LA Siobhan Wend November 28, 2016 Share We all know Ash Hart as Australia’s yogi-girl next door but this homegrown beauty has been calling wellness mecca, Los Angeles, home for yonks now. So, we wanted to find out why (warning: her LA guide may result in wanderlust and an urge to leg it to the buzzing green juice bars, Korean health spa’s and boutique studios). Stop.. smoothie time! Where are we going and what are we ordering? My favourite place for smoothies is the tonic bar at Erewhon Grocer (Beverly Hills or Venice). I am there every second day when I’m in LA, either for breakfast, lunch or just my regular food shop for supplies. My go-to order is the Green Goddess smoothie. Healthy breakfast in LA, what should we be putting on our plate? For a quick bite, head to Hugos on Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood. It’s no fuss, cheap, all organic and of course healthy and delicious. My favourite thing to order is the Go Green Frittata. It’s time to workout like a supermodel, where are we heading? I’m loving this incredible ballet bar class, Pop Physic. They have studios all around LA. I’ve never seen such quick and satisfying results in sculpting my body. If we’re talking a proper cardio sweat session though, I love running the famous Runyon Canyon – fresh air, sunshine, nature and a view – while working out, is pretty unbeatable. Time to chill, where’s the hottest yoga class at? I love my local yoga studio in Silverlake called One Down Dog. It’s a great community of yogis and they hold three different kinds of classes. It’s great to get a good mix of chill, flow or more of a workout, all while staying anchored to the spiritual aspects of yoga. Best place for a healthy and happy picnic in LA? Malibu Creek State Park. Be prepared to walk for a while until you find your perfect spot – and bring bathers for a refreshing dip in the beautiful creek. It’s holiday time! Where should we bliss out on a massage table? I love Oasis massage in West Hollywood for a quick, last minute drop in. It’s super cheap and always good. I request AJ when I can. If I’m feeling like treating myself for a proper Thai massage, I will book in at The Raven Spa in Silverlake and pair it with an Infared sauna session before. It’s only an extra $10 with any treatment (score!) to really soften and relax my body. What should we be packing in our beach bag to hit up the LA beaches? My beach bag staples are a Turkish towel, drink bottle, book to read, coconut oil and the Swisse 30+ BB cream for a light coverage and sun protection. Share a supermodel secret, where do you indulge? Head to a Korean health spa. I like Beverly Hot Springs or Wii Spa in Korea Town. I soak in the hot springs, sweat it out in the steam and sauna. Plus, there’s regular intervals in the cold plunge pool. It’s such an incredible way to detox and stimulate the whole system. And the best part of it all is the scrub - a must do! I walk out feeling so silky, smooth and refreshed. It’s 24 hours and great thing to do before or after flying. For a DIY at home pamper session, I use the Swisse Body Polish, the combination of lemon myrtle and coconut shell make it super luxious and revitalising. How can we stay #SwisseBodyBeautiful whereever we are in the world? To me, being body beautiful is a radiance you can’t quite explain, it’s an elegance, strength and grace that comes from within whereever you are in the world. Beyond the body, I believe this comes from holistically balanced health, where you operate with love, attention and connection to your body, mind and spirit.
