Potato fans unite

Let’s be real about potatoes. They’re one of nature’s greatest gifts. At least, MasterChef judge and Swisse ambassador George Calombaris thinks so.

We caught him spruiking spuds with South Melbourne Market stallowner Georgie, from Georgie’s Harvest in between takes of our latest TV campaign.

Chips, mash, dumplings? Turns out, there’s a perfect potato for that. Find out if you’re using the right one.




New season, means new potatoes. Here’s George and Georgie’s buying tips.

TYPE: Nicholas

USE: This low GI variety is as guilt-free as potatoes get. Makes an awesome Dauphinoise, thanks to its nifty ability to hold shape, while softening.


TYPE: Viking

USE: Red when you cut into them, this veg variety makes a beautiful mash and chips.


TYPE: Purple Congo

USE: Want to wow? Swap the standard beige for a purple potato when making dumplings. Fancy.
