Infra-red alert!

May 20, 2016

Your sun protection has been missing something – until now.

Besides the sun, your skin is getting a whole lot of solar energy from Infra-red (IR) rays. When you blowdry your hair, cosy up to a warm fire, or even get a gel manicure, your skin is being exposed to them.

Research out of Germany is beginning to show Infra-red rays and the heat they generate penetrate the dermal layers of the skin and stimulate the production of elastin degrading enzymes.

What this means is a loss of skin firmness and wrinkle formation, explains Swisse Skincare Specialist, Selina Mithen. In other words, you’ve hit fast forward on those fine lines and wrinkles that no amount of sunscreen can stop.

Turns out, our best defence comes from mother nature with Swisse Skincare launching Australia’s first natural UVA/UVB and Infra-red protectant range. Game changed.

The Swisse Natural Defence Moisturiser SPF15 is a daily moisturiser, while the Natural Defence BB Cream SPF30 comes in light beige and medium beige tints, for a foundation-alternative.

“The products are formulated with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which provide a natural mineral UV protection,” explains Mithen. “The other key ingredient is Knotgrass Extract, a botanical rich in premature-aging preventing flavonoids.”

This botanical combines with Tasmanian Pepper Leaf, St. Mary’s Thistle and Broccoli of all extracts, to assist in the prevention of premature aging caused by environmental damage. Think of it as a superfood salad for your face.
