Wellness Hub August 2018 Ambassadors Changing the football world one kick at a time Olivia O'Donahoo (Admin) August 23, 2018 Share Born in Bright, Victoria, 30-year-old Daisy Pearce has become one of the most influential players in both the AFLW & VFLW competitions. Daisy is a ten-time premiership player (seven as captain), a seven-time Helen Lambert Medalist and five-time Darebin Falcons’ best and fairest winner. Kicking goals off the field as well, Daisy recently made history when she became Triple M’s first female football caller – what an absolute super woman! Her commitment to health, wellness and mindfulness has seen her achieve athletic supremacy in what has long been a male-dominated sport. Recently, Daisy has been lending her support in our Swisse Best Off Ground competition, which seeks to recognise the local football legends who make a difference off the field. You can learn more about Swisse Best Off Ground competition and nominate your own local hero here swisse.com/bestoffground We sat down with the footy superstar to ask her 10 quick questions, to give us an insight into her life outside football and what makes her tick. 1. What is the best decision you have ever made? To continue playing footy as a kid, despite the sometimes uncomfortable reminders that I was different or a bit out of place. 2. How do you spend the days you have “off”? I start my day off with run or walk, followed by what I like to call a ‘wake up’ swim in the ocean or river. For breakfast, I enjoy eggs and avocado on toast along with my standard ¾ soy latte, whilst reading the paper (starting at the back of course!). In the afternoon I try to have a hit of tennis or a kick of the footy and if I have time, a cheeky afternoon nap. I finish the day with a healthy dinner with friends and enjoy a few dark chocolate squares as a night cap. 3. If you had to change your name, what would your new name be and why? I don’t think I’ve ever taken this long to answer a question…. Let’s go with Snowy Grey because it was my first and favourite guinea pig’s name! 4. Who out of everyone still alive would you most want to share a meal with? Michelle Obama 5. What are you most grateful for? Living in a wonderful country like Australia, being healthy and having people who love and care about me. 6. What memory do you wish you could relive? Falling in love with my boyfriend (soppy by true). 7. Sweet or savory? Sweet, of course ;) 8. What do you love most about living in the country? The fresh air, peace and quiet, being connected to nature and stripping back life to appreciate the simple things that make me happy. 9. Who is your biggest rival? I love competing against the best midfielders in the competition such as Emma Kearney, Ellie Blackburn, Kara Donnelan. But I am lucky because I think the most difficult person to play against is Karen Paxman and I get to compete against her every week at training. 10. How do you celebrate life every day? By taking time to appreciate the little things in life that make it worth living...our amazing planet, fresh air, good food, laughter and interesting people.
