Tell us about your morning routine?
I like to get up in the morning and go for a swim. There is no better way to start the day.
How do you motivate yourself to get up for those cold and wet winter morning training sessions?
Luckily my favourite time of the year is winter and I’m a morning person so I never have a problem getting up early for training.
What does a typical day of training involve for you?
Depending on how I feel, it will usually start with a bit of physio in the morning and some injury prevention at the football club followed by meetings and training. My afternoons usually involve weights followed by a massage.
How do you recover after a tough training session?
Lunch at the football club with Geelong’s legendary chef Aido and then weather permitting I go for a surf or just get in the ocean for a swim.
How do you relax when you’re not training?
I love fishing, surfing or just going for a walk in the bush.
What advice would you give to young guys who dream of following in your footsteps?
Have a good life balance because you might dream of playing AFL footy but if that’s all you think about, it can affect your performance. It’s important to have other things that interest you.
Why did you become a wellness ambassador for Swisse?
I like feeling fit and healthy every day and for me that’s surfing and taking the right vitamins. Working with a company like Swisse was a natural fit for me.
Is there a particular sports person you admire most or who motivates you?
Lebron James is the man…what a legend.
What would we find if we looked in your training bag/locker?
I like to keep it simple. For me, less is more before a big game so there isn’t much in there apart from my training gear, vitamins and H2O.
